About us

PESI YouthBuild (PYB) is a leadership program with an emphasis on education and occupational skills training. Our goal is to provide each participant the opportunity to obtain the skills necessary to personally transform through education, career training, community service, and leadership development.

Career Connections Program

In addition the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC) will partner with PESI and provide their Career Connections Program and curriculum. The Career Connections Program will introduce YouthBuild participants to a career in carpentry. Program materials have been written by UBC carpenters from around North America who have both teaching and field experience. YouthBuild participants may receive advanced placement at UBC’s pre-apprenticeship and or apprenticeship programs. *Approximately 500 hours of pre-apprenticeship classroom using the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and UBC Career Connections curriculum and construction training building transitional and affordable housing or other structures.

Logistics

Construction Plus Health Pathway participants will receive training using the Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) & Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) certification program. YouthBuild participants will be trained in the core competencies of material handling at the front-line (entry-level) logistics and assessed for certification. The industry lead 160 hours of training, assessment and certification will be issued by Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) including the following certifications: OSHA 10, ACT-National Career Readiness Certificate, Certified Forklift Operator, MSSC Certified Logistics. 

Counseling and Supportive Services

Counseling and Supportive Services – address barriers and challenges that interfere with the fulfillment of their education and training potential. Assist students to set clear goals and will link them to community resources to assist with their life challenges. Participants will receive training clothing. Job Developer will provide Transition Services and Placement that support the successful transition of graduates into postsecondary education or employment, and support retention in the placements. *Create Individual Development Plan *Life Plans
